The tour will kick off from Urban Hotel Brisbane on Saturday morning, most of you will find it easier to spend the night there. Click HERE to download an accommodation booking form for the Urban Hotel.

The tour will feature winter cereal improvement focusing on barley and give delegates the opportunity to gain an appreciation of cropping systems in the region. 

Saturday 12th September
Delegates to the conference will be picked up in Brisbane at 8am and travel by bus through the Fassifern Valley to Hermitage Research Station where barley improvement work conducted by Barley Breeding Australia – North, can be inspected. The tour will then traverse the fertile central Darling Downs, visiting trial sites, for an overnight stay in Toowoomba.

Sunday 13th September
The tour will begin with a visit to the Leslie Research Centre where the barley quality laboratory is located and soil and foliar disease screening is conducted.  Delegates will then travel to Gatton to view wheat and barley trials and visit the newly established Centre for Applied Animal Science where feeding trials with barley are conducted.
